Ethical Code of the civic association Mládež ulice

An essential part of our work and of avoiding risky situations are ethical rules that regulate the relationship between a worker/volunteer and the service user.

The fundamental principles include not causing harm and acting in the best interest of clients.


Relationship with Service Users

Confidentiality and Privacy
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Preserve the confidentiality of information in full.
  • Do not provide information about other service users.
  • Do not provide personal information about clients to third parties (e.g., media) without their permission.
  • Do not upload photos of clients to social media or provide them to any other public platform or third parties.
Respect and Communication
  • Respect clients and support their strengths and autonomy.
  • Provide truthful information.
  • Do not promise the impossible or mislead clients.
  • Respect clients’ right to their own opinion and self-expression.
Boundaries in Communication and Contact
  • Do not establish personal (private) relationships with clients.
  • Do not discuss your own personal problems with clients.
  • Do not intentionally meet clients outside of working hours.
  • Do not lend or borrow money or mobile phones.
  • Do not engage in any form of trading with clients.
Equal Treatment
  • Do not favour individual clients or groups.
  • Do not discriminate (race, gender, ideology, nationality, etc.).
  • Remain impartial in cases of conflict between clients.

Relationship with Other Workers and the Programme

  • Do not work beyond your knowledge, education, or competencies.
  • Make decisions in accordance with agreed rules.
  • Be truthful.
  • Resolve uncertainties and conflicts between workers after the service (not in front of clients).
  • Support and not jeopardise the good reputation of the programme.
  • Provide information about the programme to the media, police, or other third parties only if officially authorised.

Duties

  • Record attendance in the attendance log.
  • Participate in intervisions and supervisions.
  • Inform other workers about new information that may affect further work.

Rights

  • The right to receive support and consultation for your work activities.
  • The right to refer to the employment agreement if tasks required exceed assigned duties.
